Alvin Wilmer Edwards' Obituary
Alvin Wilmer Edwards, a beloved husband, father, veteran, and friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 23, 2025, at his cherished home in Roy, Washington. He was 93.
Born on May 4, 1932, in Lake Stevens, Washington, to Wilmer and Alma Edwards, Alvin lived a life marked by service, craftsmanship, and adventure. He proudly served his country for over 30 years across the Navy, Air Force, Civil Service, and Air Force Reserves. A skilled welder by trade, Alvin was the last civilian to run the welding shop at McChord Air Force Base, retiring nearly 40 years ago.
Alvin was married to the love of his life, Alice Edwards, for nearly 70 years. Their enduring partnership was a testament to devotion and resilience. Alice preceded him in death on September 24, 2023. Together, they raised three children, all of whom remained close and devoted to Alvin throughout his life.
Fifty years ago, Alvin milled the lumber and built the home where he would spend the rest of his days—a symbol of his resourcefulness and dedication. He was a man of many passions: donating nearly 15 gallons of blood in his lifetime, racing his own car on oval clay tracks, flying his personal aircraft, scuba diving, and exploring the country in two well-loved motorhomes.
Alvin was a proud member and officer of the Eagles for 50 years and an enthusiastic NASCAR fan. Known for his tireless work ethic, generous spirit, and friendly nature, Alvin was always ready to lend a hand and was deeply respected by all who knew him.
Reflecting on his life, Alvin once said, "I've had a good life and did everything I wanted to do." May he rest in peace.
