Alton Hannah's Obituary
Alton Wayne Hannah was a wonderful man whose sudden passing has left a great void in so many lives.
Alton was born on May 19, 1950, in Naples, Texas, to father and mother Ben and Melvin Hannah, who preceded him to glory. He grew up in Naples, graduated from Pewitt High School in 1969 and soon after joined the United States Army.
In 1974, while serving in Fort Huachuca, Arizona, he met his wife, the love of his life, his soul mate and until the day of his passing, his very best friend, Doris Jean Hannah. He was a proud and dedicated father to their only child, son, Alton Hannah, Jr. and a doting grandfather to his only grandchild, Alton Wayne Hannah, III, known as Trey.
Alton served his country proudly and faithfully for 21 years. He moved to Tacoma, Washington with wife, Doris, in 1990. He worked as a security guard at Emerald Queen Casino for approximately eight years, retiring from work in 2012.
Alton is also preceded by his sisters, Wilma Nelms, Mary Griffin, and Beverly Traylor, all of Naples, Texas. He has left behind his beloved siblings, brothers, Ben Hannah, Jr., Kenneth Ray Hannah, and Kirk Hannah (wife Gina). He left behind his sisters, Betty Jean Hannah and Teresa Henderson. Alton has also left behind nephews and nieces, Chelsea, Brittany, Samantha, Todd, Ben Hannah III, Benita, Shakayla, Kevin, Erica, Ben, Spence, Kelly, Jessica, Tamela, Torrie, Keith, Tracy, Debra, Tiara, Kaitlyn, Nina, Micah, Maurice, Michelle, Michael and Miesha, and many more family and friends. Also grieving his passing is his wife's family, the Hubbard family, his father-in-law, Henry Hubbard, brother-in-law and dear friend, Arthell Hubbard, and sister-in-law, Loretta Meminger.
Anyone who knew Alton, knew that one of his great loves was the Dallas Cowboys. No matter where he was stationed, win or lose he was their #1 fan. Alton's passing lets all of us know how much love he had for us, because we miss the way he cared about all of us. He was there for his family and friends like a faithful, loyal brother. We miss how as soon as someone showed up to visit, he went to the kitchen and cooked up a wonderful meal. He loved to make us all happy, but if the Cowboys lost, he kicked everybody out. Alton was a man of great integrity. He meant what he said and he said what he meant. You could count on him, you could trust him, and the world is better because he lived among us.
We love you now and forever, Alton Wayne Hannah, Sr.
