Alphonso Jones III's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Alphonso “AJ” Jones III May 25, 1992 – March 22, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Alphonso “AJ” Jones III, who left this world far too soon on March 22, 2025, in Tacoma, WA. Born on May 25, 1992, in Ahoskie, North Carolina, AJ grew up to be a man full of life, passion, and resilience. He made his home in Lakewood, WA, where he built a life filled with love, adventure, and creativity.
AJ had a free spirit and a heart that embraced both the thrill of the outdoors and the beauty of artistic expression. Whether running down the football field, gliding on his skateboard, or creating intricate glass-blown art, he approached life with an undeniable energy and talent. His love for drawing reflected the depth of his thoughts and emotions, a silent yet powerful way he shared his soul with the world.
Beyond his love for sports and art, AJ had a passion for cooking. He found joy in preparing meals for those he loved, creating dishes that not only nourished but also brought people together. He was a man of kindness, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His heart was open, his presence warm, and his generosity knew no limits. Whether it was a stranger in passing or a friend in need, AJ made sure that those around him felt seen, valued, and cared for.
AJ also had a strong sense service, which led him to participate in ROTC, this program, he developed leadership skills, resilience, and a dedication to teamwork—qualities that shaped him into the man he became.
AJ’s greatest joy came from his family. He was a devoted father to his beloved children, Alison Brianna Jones and Hezekiah Bradley Ermias Jones, who will carry forward his love, strength, and creativity. He is survived by his loving parents, Alphonso Jones Jr and Belinda Lee Johnson; his sister, Brianna Ogunsemi-Dorsey; and his brother, Benjamyn Whitaker. Each of them will forever hold his memory close, cherishing the laughter, love, and lessons he shared.
His departure has left an ache in our hearts, but we take comfort in the promises of God. As it is written in Psalms 91:1-2, “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.’”
In the midst of our sorrow, we hold on to the words of Jesus in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” Though our hearts are heavy, we trust that AJ has found eternal rest in the arms of the Lord, free from pain and filled with peace.
Though his time with us was cut short, AJ’s light will never fade. His laughter, love, and adventurous spirit will remain in the hearts of those who knew him. We find solace in knowing that he now rests in eternal peace, watching over us with that same unbreakable spirit.
Rest well, AJ. You are deeply loved and forever missed.
