Alma Elizabeth Hicks' Obituary
Alma (Binse) Hicks, "Mom, Grandma and G.G." as she was lovingly called passed away On May 1, 2023. A longtime resident of Tacoma, she was born July 28,1931 in Sacramento, CA., and moved to Washington in 1950. She married our dad Bob on July 28,1951 and they moved into her forever homesite in Tacoma, where she resided until her death. Her kindness, generosity and spirit made a positive difference in the lives of others. Her loves of life besides her family were bowling, her flowers, vegetable gardens, canning, quilting, building puzzles and making jam.
In her later years she enjoyed her church groups, mother/daughters get aways and traveling to visit relatives throughout the U.S. and vacationing in Hawaii, Canada and Mexico. She is survived by her eight remaining children Margaret Sorensen (Leroy), Donna Lederman, Chuck Hicks, Barbara Engel, Kenny Hicks, Ellen Niz, Nate Hicks and Alma Payne (Harry). 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in law Frank and Dorothy Dobler. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 48 years, Robert (Bob) Hicks, son Robert Franklin Hicks, and one granddaughter Alyssa Hannah Rose Hicks.
Viewing and funeral service will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW, Lakewood, WA 98499. Viewing - Friday, May 19,2023 from 11a-4pm. Services will be in the Garden Chapel on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 1pm.
