Allen L. Oksness' Obituary
Allen Oksness of Tacoma, Washington passed away on March 30, 2016. Allen was born on May 1, 1921 in Powers Lake, North Dakota to the late Lewis and Alma (Breding) Oksness. He was raised on a farm in Powers Lake and joined the United States Army in 1942. He married Esther Alferness in 1942 and they settled in Tacoma, WA. They had one daughter Geraldine.
Allen worked over 30 years for the Federal Government in the carpentry and property disposal at Mt. Rainier ordinance and Fort Lewis.
Allen lived in Parkland, WA for 66 years and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He wintered in Mesa, Arizona for 33 years and enjoyed playing golf, bowling and bingo.
Allen is preceded in death by his parents; wife Esther; sisters Lauretta Eric, Anna Mae Davies and June Heintz and a brother Merlin.
He is survived by his daughter Geraldine (John) Simonson; Sister Cheryl Shadle;
3 grandchildren, Julie (Kris) Knutson, Joel Simonson and James (Insook) Simonson; 3 great grandchildren Justin, Kayla and Evan.
A private graveside committal will be held for the family of Allen L. Oksness at Mountain View Memorial Park, Lakewood, WA.
