Allen G. Dunken's Obituary
Colonel Allen G. Dunken, USAF (Retired) born April 4, 1918 in Dallas, Texas died on July 24, 2008 at the Tacoma Lutheran Home. His parents were May Louise and Sidney Henderson Dunken, lifelong residents of Texas. He and his wonderful wife, Helen Dunken were married August 4, 1944. She predeceased Allen. His sister, Frances Knape and brother, Sidney Henderson, Jr. preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife's sister and several nephews and nieces. Allen attended public schools in Dallas and graduated from the University of Missouri, where he earned a bachelor of Journalism degree in 1940. He entered the Army in 1941 and retired from the Air Force in 1970. He was a fighter pilot in the U.S. Eighth Air Force and flew 120 sorties in P-47 aircraft over Western Europe. He served several stations in the United States, England, Korea and Saudi Arabia.
After retirement, he began a new career as a real estate salesman with Harold A. Allen Co. He was a member of the Oakbrook Golf and Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf. He lived at the Tacoma Lutheran Home after his wife's death. He is very thankful for the wonderful service he and his wife received at Tacoma Lutheran Home.
Services will be at the chapel of the Tacoma Lutheran Home, 1301 N. Highlands Pkwy., Tacoma, WA 98406 at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 1, 2008.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tacoma Lutheran Home.
