Allan R Peschek's Obituary
Allan was born on March 14th, 1939, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Columbus, Nebraska, to Lena Olive Holton and Ralph Frank Peschek of David City, Nebraska. Allan and his parents lived in the small Nebraska community of David City for his first year and came West to Tacoma, Washington in the fall of 1940.
Allan was educated in schools in Tacoma including Grant and Bryant Elementary Schools, Jason Lee Jr. High School, Stadium High School and Pacific Lutheran University.
Allan entered into active service in the United States Navy at Treasure Island, San Francisco, California, in June 1960. He spent twenty-seven years in the service, prior to his retirement as a Chief Ship’s Clerk, W-4.
He married Julia Elizabeth Bond at Central Lutheran Church, Tacoma, Washington, on August 15th, 1964. Their first home was in the Washington, DC area and their son Ralph Allan, was born at Andrews AFB Hospital on May 16th, 1967. Their daughter, Mary Elizabeth, was born February 19th, 1970, at Tacoma General Hospital. They have three grandchildren, Amber Marie Elizabeth Gray, Julia Kay and Davis Allan Freeman, and three great grandchildren, Aubrey, Winston and Adellade.
Allan’s work experience lead him into management positions with the Puget Sound Log Scaling and Grading Bureau, Safeway Seattle Employees Federal Credit Union, Walker Chevrolet, and retiring from The News Tribune in April of 2004.
Allan has long been active in his community serving on many committees and organizations . . . a long time member of Kiwanis, Afifi Shrine, National Sojourners, Hero’s of 76, Tacoma-Pierce County Genealogical Society, Chamber of Commerce and The Military Order of the World Wars. He enjoyed boating and served as Commodore of the Afifi Shrine Yacht Club and the Tacoma Yacht Club. He believed that it was his duty to give back to his community and spent many hours of his life in this effort.
Allan was a long time member of Redeemer Lutheran in Fircrest. He will be buried at Tahoma National Cemetery with only family members present.
