Alicia Buenafe Cabellon's Obituary
Alicia Buenafe Cabellon, loving sister to 11 siblings, beloved mother of 4, grandmother of 14, and great-grandmother of 19, passed away April 1, 2015. Her 97 years of life began Nov. 20, 1917, in Dolores, Abra, Philippines. She was accepted to attend nursing school in Manila at San Juan De Dios. She was only in Manila for less than a month and had to return home due to illness. Later she became a religious educator. She married Master Sargeant Silverio Cabellon in 1943, lived in Ft. Lewis from 1958 to 1962, then returned to the Philippines 1962 to 1969. Since her return to Lakewood, WA in 1969, she was very involved in the Fil-American Association activities. Her background as a teacher, her strong family values, and successful education of her 4 children (Silverio, Jr., Jessie, George, and Elizabeth) will serve as a permanent handprint of her legacy.
Viewing is at Mountain View Funeral Home on April 6th from 4 – 8 pm, and April 7, 2015, from 4 -8 pm, with rosary being held Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place Wednesday, April 8 at 11:00 a.m at Saint John Bosco Catholic Church, 10508 112th St SW, Lakewood, WA 98498. Entombment to follow at Mountain View Memorial Park. The family requests that donations be made in her honor to your favorite charity.
