Alice Virginia Chaffeur's Obituary
Alice Virginia (Gruber) Chaffeur Alice V. Chaffeur, born to Edward and Dora Gruber in Helena, Montana on July 15, 1922, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on May 22, 2008 Mom always said her most important accomplishment was raising her eight kids. Then, expanding her horizons, Mom opened Bookkeeping and Tax Service by Alice, a successful Lakewood business for nearly twenty years. Although Mom's greatest love was her family, she also enjoyed traveling, bridge club, reading, dining out, and the colorful birds and flowers of her backyard garden. Alice was preceded in death by her husband of forty-six years, LTC (Ret.) John J. Chaffeur, brothers William and Bud, and grandson Jedediah. She is survived by her children: John (JoAnne), Prescott, Arizona; James (Barbara), Gig Harbor; Robert, Tacoma; Carol (Dennis), Puyallup; Michael (Alice), Fairbanks, Alaska; Ginger (Michael), Danville, Pennsylvania; Nancy (Richard), Mesa, Arizona; Patrick, Olympia; 21 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 5 brothers, and 1 sister. A service celebrating Alice's life will be held in the Valley Chapel at Mountain View Memorial Park on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at 12:00 noon. Alice's family would like to thank Good to Be Home Care, Franciscan Hospice, Chaplain Natasha, Joan Kovich of Saint Frances Cabrini Eucharistic Ministry, and Ted and Janie Gruber. We will be eternally grateful to Anne Harris, RN, for her gift of gentle guidance and care during our mother's final days.
