Alice Corinne (Pearsall) Loft
August 26, 1921 - February 26, 2015
Alice Corinne (Pearsall) Loft was born in Centralia Washington on August 26, 1921, the third of five children to Evelyn Gladys Davis and Ralph Marion Pearsall. She died peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Tacoma General Hospital on February 26, 2015 after a brief illness.
Alice’s early years began on a Centralia pioneer homestead with her sisters Virginia, Marion and brothers Ralph and Dick. Her family moved to Tacoma where she graduated from Lincoln High School. She began working life as clerk at Kress’s where she met her future sister-in-law Lois Irene Loft. In the middle of World War II Alice traveled to Washington D.C. to marry a young Marine second lieutenant, Edwin A. Loft. After the war they drove across the country to Tacoma to begin civilian life. They raised three children, Edwin, Martin and Janet while living in Tacoma, Spokane and Grants Pass Oregon. After her husband passed, Alice was a florist in the family business, Pearsall Floral Company.
Alice was an avid reader and a fan of old movies. She enjoyed gardening, watching the Mariners and cooking for family gatherings.
Alice was predeceased by her husband of 29 years, Edwin Arthur Loft who died in 1971. She is survived by her younger brother Dick Pearsall, three children Edwin Paul Loft (Judith), Martin Bradley Loft (Bonnie) and Janet Loft Balaban (Tom), seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.,
A memorial for Alice will be held at Mountain View Memorial Park in the Aspen Chapel on March 14, 2015 at 1:00pm.
