Alice Esther Pietz's Obituary
Alice was born in Lehr, N.D. July 9, 1918 to Wilhelm and Maria Anna Freimarck. On March 18, 2006, she looked into the face of Jesus.She grew up in Wishek, ND, one of 15 children including 3 sets of twins.Alice met the man of her dreams, Reuben Pietz, in Fargo, ND on June 21, 1937. They moved to Tacoma, WA in 1942 where they resided until her death. Alice was very spirited and moved like the energizer, especially in her younger years.Her family was her inspiration. She was known as the best cook and baker in the neighborhood Â- all who tasted her cooking wanted permanent seating at the Pietz dinner table.Alice loved to read. She read up to 12 books a month. The library was one of her favorite places to go. Her dream growing up was to be a school teacher. She found that classroom with her own six kids. The values she taught us will live in us forever.Alice was a long time member of Portland Avenue Baptist Church and in recent years attended Evergreen Baptist Church.Alice was preceded in death by her daughter Darlene Kujawa, and 10 siblings.She is survived by her husband Reuben, her sons Kenny, Ron (Shirley), and Jerry (Tina); two daughters Patricia McDonough and Sharon Larkin; 15 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, 3 brothers, Clarence Freimarck of Bismarck, ND, William Freimarck of Vancouver, WA, and Vernon Freimarck of Lodi, CA; one sister, Peggy Gould of NY, and many nephews and nieces.Our family is grateful to the nurses and aids on the Â"Emerald WingÂ" of Heartwood Extension Care, and the activities crew for the care of our precious wife, mom, and Gramma received over the past year. You were all so wonderful. A special thank you to Â"angelÂ" (Louise) who was always there to help and encourage.Viewing for Alice will be held on Thursday, March 23rd from 12 Â- 9 PM at Mountain View Funeral Home. A service will follow at 3 PM on Friday, March 24th, 2006 in the Mountain View Garden Chapel. Harvey Mehlhaff will officiate at the service. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Heartwood Extended Health Care.
