Alice Marie Edwards' Obituary
Alice Marie Edwards, age 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 24, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and unwavering devotion to her family and community.
Born on December 18, 1934, Alice lived a life rich in experience and purpose. As a young girl, she witnessed history firsthand—standing at a corner store in Pearl Harbor, holding her father’s hand, on the morning of the infamous attack in 1941. Her early years were marked by resilience and talent, including her time as a concert violinist in her teens.
On May 23, 1954, Alice married Alvin Edwards, beginning a nearly 70-year journey of partnership and love. Together, they built a life centered on family, hard work, and shared passions. Alvin built their home 50 years ago, and Alice lovingly decorated it, choosing every detail that made it a true reflection of their life together.
Alice was a devoted mother to three children, who remained by her side until her final day. She sewed all of their clothing, a reflection of her many talents and her boundless care. Her skills were vast—sewing, upholstery, baking, crocheting, knitting, gardening, canning, and making jams—all done with creativity and enthusiasm. She loved shopping and had an eye for beauty and detail.
She was a proud and active member of the Eagles for 45 years, donating countless hours baking, crocheting, and working tirelessly to support the organization and its causes. Alice often held a job outside the home and was deeply involved in every endeavor her family pursued, especially Alvin’s stock car racing days.
Her love extended beyond her immediate family to her community, and her actions spoke volumes about her character. She even learned to drive so her children could receive regular dental care—just one of many selfless acts that defined her life.
Alice’s legacy is one of strength, creativity, and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
May she rest in eternal peace.
