Alfred Robert Klapstein's Obituary
ALFRED R. KLAPSTEIN
June 11, 1913 - February 7, 2009
Dad was a quiet, unassuming man who had his own way of doing things. He had a relationship with his Lord and Savior and tried to live" as pleasing unto the Lord." Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, he immigrated as a small boy with his parents to Tacoma where he lived the rest of his life. He graduated from Lincoln High School and afterwards played semi-pro football with the Alt Heidelberg team in the 1930's. Sports, especially football, were always an important pastime. Dad was a man of hard work, integrity and honesty as was seen in his business dealings. He owned and ran Klapstein Builders, and built many homes and churches in the area. He also was a life-long member of Calvary Baptist Church and sang bass in the choir for over fifty years. Dad was predeceased by his wife, Gertie, of fifty years and is survived by his children: Judith Hutchens (Don), Robert Keith (Susie), Karen Henry (Ralph) and Richard Klapstein (Kathy). Also surviving are a brother Walter (Beverly) and sister, Dolores Ormay, nine grandchildren and ten great-grand children. A private family graveside will be held.
