Alfred Claude Kammerzell's Obituary
Alfred C. Kammerzell was born October 1, 1929 in Farmington, WA and died May 14, 2009 in Tacoma. His parents were John and Martha Kammerzell. He attended school in Farmington and graduated from Eastern Washington State College, where he met and married the love of his life, Garnet Gene Maple. They were married 43 years and had three sons, Claude, Paul and Stanley. He is survived by Claude and Paul and two granddaughters, Deborah and Abigail. He worked for 35 years as a warehouseman at Fort Lewis and McChord AFB. He was active in Tacoma NAACP in the '50s and early '60s; and after retirement F.O.R., Jobs with Justice and Tacoma neighborhood councils. He was a member for over 50 years of the Tacoma Unitarian Church. He was a supporter of the local art scene and a founding member of Puget Sound Poetry Connection. One of his poems is included in the Point Defiance Promenade. A memorial will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2009, at 10:30 AM at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tacoma, 1115 S. 56th St.
