Alfonso Banks' Obituary
Alfonso Banks of Tacoma, Washington, went home to be with his Father in Heaven on Saturday, May 30, 2009. Alfonso was preceded in death by son Demetrius Banks, son stillborn, mother Elgertha Banks, father David Banks and brother David R. Banks. He was born in Mulga, Alabama, on February 21, 1943. He graduated from Westfield High School May, 1960. Immediately after high school he married the love of his life Sandra Armstead on October 3, 1962. They have been married for 47 beautiful years and had 2 daughters Sybilla (Earnest) Yearby of Tacoma, Belinda Banks of Tacoma, 2 grandsons, 1 granddaughter and one great grandson. Mr. Banks has 3 sisters Julia Green of Indiana, Ethel Mallory of Missouri and Patricia Hinton of Alabama, Alfonso leaves behind a host of extended family and friends. Mr. Banks joined the Army in 1963-1983. He was a Vietnam Vet. During his time in Vietnam he received:ENational Defense Service Medal Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal. Oversea Service Bars: Good Conduct Medal ~ Army Commendation Medal. Army Service and Oversea Service Medal: Non-Commissioned Officer ~ Professional Development Ribbon. Mr. Banks loved supporting and spending time with his grandchildren. They came first in his life. He had a passion for cooking and fishing. Visitation begins Sun. 2-9pm, Services are 11am Mon. June 8, 2009 Aspen Chapel, Mt. View Celebration of life Center. Military Honors and interment at Mount Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent.
