Alex Louis Ginnis' Obituary
Alex Louis Ginnis
Born: January 19, 1957 Died: November 13, 2009 Today, we attempt to verbalize the pain, sorrow and regret we feel at the passing of our son, father, brother, uncle, and dearest friend Alex. Alex "Baby Al" Ginnis was born on January 19th 1957, in Tacoma, to Alex and Pauline Ginnis. His life was cut short, on November 13th , 2009 at the age of 52. Alex possessed a huge heart and was a caring and thoughtful human being. Alex lived his life the way he chose, with no regrets. He had a will that surpassed us all, and a passion for life that few could mimic. We will remember his bright spirit and warm heart forever. He is survived by his father Alex Ginnis, his sisters Nancy and Linda, his brothers Joe, Richard and George, his son Andre, former wife Joyce and many loving friends, like Paula DeLong. He participated in many activities as a young man, including performing his duty as an altar boy at St. Nicholas church, and playing football. He graduated high school in 1975, from Washington, in Tacoma. He attended Central Washington University, and became a Longshoreman shortly thereafter. Alex was a third generation Greek Longshoreman, led by Louis Ginnis and Alex Ginnis Sr. and a proud member of ILWU #23 for 36 years. He was an avid fisherman, taking up many chartered trips in pursuit of his passion. He held season tickets to the University of Washington Huskies football games, and loved to watch various sporting events. He was an animal lover, and had an array of different animals in his life. One of his favorite dogs, Rex, gave him many years of loyalty and love. Alex was extremely proud of his Greek heritage, and chose to, on many occasions, let that fact be known. May he live on, in the shadows of the great men of the past, forever echoed in our hearts and minds. Our lives will not be the same without you, Alex. May you rest comfortably, eternally at peace. There will be a viewing on Thursday, November 19th between 1 and 9 p.m. at Mt. View. Services will be held at Mt. View Funeral Home, Aspen Chapel, at 2:00p.m. on Friday, November 20th. Reception to follow. Celebration of Alex at Gloria's Restaurant & Bar after the reception.
