Albert P. Kinnon's Obituary
Albert P. Kinnon, 87, of Puyallup passed away on February 28, 2019. Born August 16, 1931 on Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Al was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy. He enlisted in the Navy as a Seaman Recruit (Corpsman) and retired 33 years later as a Master Chief Petty Officer. Al spent most of his career in the Pacific stationed at Treasure Island, CA; Okinawa, Japan and Pearl Harbor, HI. He served during the Korean War and did several tours in Vietnam. An accomplishment his family is particularly proud of was his attending college after retirement from the Navy and graduating with honors. Soon after graduation, he started a job as a civilian with the U.S. Army at Camp Zama, Japan.
Al is survived by his wife of 63 years, Fumiko Kinnon at home. Fumiko and Al were married on December 1, 1955. For the last 20 plus years, Fumiko and Al called Puyallup home. They spent many happy hours gardening, golfing and enjoying life in retirement. In addition to his wife, Al is survived by two sisters Margareta and Ann; two daughters Marie Lindblom (Marcus) of Maple Valley, WA, Alisa Bailey (Michael) of Sterling, VA; grandchildren Nico Lindblom-Miss (Matt), Laney Lindblom and Austen P. Bailey. He was proceeded in death by his parents Albert and Johanna and a sister, Dorothy.
There will be viewing for friends and family from 3 to 5 on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. Al's life will be celebrated with a memorial service in the Garden Chapel of Mountain View Cemetery on September 8, 2019.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Kinnon and the family request donations be made to your favorite charity in Al's name.
