Albert O. Green's Obituary
Albert Oliver "A.O." Green, a proud veteran of the U. S. Air Force, passed away on June 17, 2022, at 95 years old.
The son of Hazel Elizabeth Carlson Green, Albert was born March 17, 1927, in Cromwell, Connecticut. He graduated from Litchfield Public High School in 1946 and Tacoma Community College in 1975.
At the age of 19, Albert enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Forces right after World War II. Starting out as an aircraft maintenance technician he soon became a flight engineer and served in that capacity aboard C-54s, C-124s and C-141s until retirement. He participated in the Berlin Airlift, and both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was awarded the Air Medal for 15,000 accident-free flight hours and totaled 17,356 flight hours. Among his citations, he was awarded with the World War II Victory Medal, Medal for Humane Action - Berlin Airlift Device, Vietnam Advisory Campaign, Vietnam Defense Campaign, Vietnam Air Campaign, Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation. He was retired with an honorable discharge after 28 years after attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. After the Air Force, he worked at the Seattle Bulk Mail Center until he retired at 62.
After retirement, Albert and Joyce continued their love of travel going all over the world on cruises and car trips. Albert was a good friend to many, always keeping touch with high school friends, those he was stationed with in and out of the flight engineer community, and family. Albert loved fishing - anywhere and anytime. An avid stock market trader, he would talk to anyone about the highs, and the lows, of the stocks. He continued to trade stocks until he was hospitalized in June!
Albert is survived by his wife of 70 years Joyce Green (LaFrance), the love of his life. He had 5 children. In addition to Joyce, he was survived by sons Daniel and Dale Green and daughter Diana Francois and his brother, Carl Green. He had 2 more children, David and Christine, and a sister, Dorothea who predeceased him. He left 2 grandchildren, Frank Francois V and Christine Rennhofer (Francois), and 5 great grandchildren, Frank VI and Elijah Francois, and Lola, Lily and Harry Rennhofer.
