Albert B Esche's Obituary
Al was born to Albert "Bert" and Sarah Esche their only child in Bath, SD. He was one of nine in his graduating class (1933) from Bath high school. Then he moved to Detroit, MI. where he worked at the Cadillac Hotel. While in MI. he joined the army in 1938. While stationed at Selfridge field, MI he met and married (June, 5 1942) his wife of 68 years June, who always called him "Red".
After being stationed in Rome NY, Louisiana, Germany, Florida, Brooklyn NY, Japan and Okinawa the Esche's now a family of four, with a daughter and son, retired out of McChord AFB, WA. Al had spent 22 years in the Procurement Offices for Medical Supplies in the army and air force, at the rank of Lt. Col. He then went to work for the State of Washington in Tacoma and Olympia.
Upon retiring for the second time, Al "Red" and June took to the road. Their love of traveling took them to Europe, China, Austrailia, New Zealand, Israel, Jordan, Russia and many more wonderful places. They also did a lot of volunteer work.
After a short illness, Al passed peacefully in his sleep at the age of 97 on Dec. 7, 2013. He is preceded in death by his wife June, who passed on Dec. 25, 2010. Al is survived by his children, Junal Phister of Fountain Valley, CA, Tim Esche and his wife Julie of Longview, WA and by three grandchildren, Scot Phister, Ean Esche and Erin Esche.
Albert Bernard "Red" Esche will be interred at Tahoma National Cemetery with his wife.
