Albert Douglas Brown's Obituary
Albert Douglas Brown - "Doug" passed peacefully in his home on August 19, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol J Brown (Rowe); daughter, Nancy Brown; son, Steve Brown; brother, Dean P Brown; along with several grandchildren, a great-grandchild, nieces, and nephews.
Doug grew up in Chehalis, WA, he was elected Yell King for Chehalis HS along with being Track Champions in 1955. He graduated from the College of Puget Sound (now University of Puget Sound) in Tacoma, WA. He was a member and past President of the University of Puget Sound Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for many years, elevating into the Scottish Rite, and finally became an Afifi Shriner in Tacoma, WA.
Doug retired as a Lt Colonel after 21 years duty in the US Air Force, Doug then moved onto a secondary career in the private sector as a Human Resource Manager for 20+ years. Even after retiring twice, he managed to keep working part time up until his passing.
The Browns were members of a couple of RV groups and enjoyed thoroughly their travels and the friends they have come to know and cherish.
Doug from early on enjoyed being a leader and teacher sharing his knowledge and experiences with children. He was involved with an adventure group in Panama, the Cub Scouts, Y-Indian Guides, Special Olympics, and many more. Because of his strong draw to help children succeed, the family asks that any Memorial Donations please be made in the name of Doug Brown to the "Make a Wish Foundation" so more children can have their wishes come true.
Services will be on September 21st, 2:15pm at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent with full Military Honors. For those attending, please arrive 15-20 minutes prior to the service time - Thank you.
