Alan Leonard Vaughan's Obituary
Alan Leonard Vaughan was born on September 17, 1936 in London, England to Len and Eleanor, died June 7, 2013 at Tacoma General Hospital of Lymphoma. His Father died in WWII where he was an RAF navigator. Alan and his mother immigrated to America in 1946 where his mom married Fred Swink.
Alan graduated from Sumner High School. He was employed at Boeing, retiring as a supervisor. He was active in the YMCA Indian Guides, a youth soccer coach, secretary-treasurer with Alpine Village POA in Ashford, active with the Edgewood Cityhood Campaign and sat on the Edgewood Parks Committee until he moved to Puyallup. Currently he was treasurer of Friends of Summit Library.
Alan is survived by his wife, Marty (Marjorie Frame Knauf); sons Christopher (Angela) of Edgewood and Jonathan of Tacoma; grandchildren Taylre, Jordan and Connor; sisters Karen (Gary) Collins of Edgewood and Patricia (Larry) Scott of Yelm; one nephew and 2 nieces.
Visitation will be held from 5pm to 9pm, Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Mountain View Funeral Home. A private family graveside service will be held followed by a memorial service at 2pm, Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Puyallup First Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Puyallup First Presbyterian Church Scholarship Fund, The Friends of Summit Library or Friends of Edgewood Parks.
