Addie Lee Hughes' Obituary
Addie Lee Hughes was born on April 23, 1911 in Beaverton, Alabama to the late Lucy Wallace. Addie was the sister of three brothers and three sisters that preceded her death. The lord called her home on February 12, 2008. She was 96 years of age.Addie spent her early years in Alabama. She moved to Tacoma, Washington in 1955 to join her family and her loving son Clave McCraw. After settling in Tacoma, she became a member of St. John Baptist Church. She was employed at the US Post Office for many years. In 1963, she was married to her late husband Laymon Hughes.Addie loved spending her time with family and planning events for her family members to enjoy. Family was a very important part of her life ensuring that needs were taken care of and helping out with love. Addie was a giving person to her family and friends. Addie had many talents and did them with excellence. Addie enjoyed sewing, cooking, fishing, gardening, crocheting, knitting, taking pictures of events, reading the current events, picnics, special outings, and volunteering at the Beacon Senior Center for many years.Addle received a certificate for voting over 60 years. She was very proud of that achievement. Addie loved her country and was proud to be an American.Addie will always be cherished by her family and friends. Addie leaves loving son Clave McCraw; grandson Victor R. McCraw, great-grandson Coffin C. McCraw, uncle Redden Wallace, and a host of loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
