Ada Kathryn Scofield's Obituary
Ada Kathryn Scofield passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, in Gig Harbor, Washington at age 94. Ada was born in Tacoma on August 1, 1931, at St. Joseph Hospital. She was the daughter of Charles F. Grover and Kathryn M. Grover (Hickey). Ada graduated from Lincoln High School in 1948. She attended the University of Puget Sound for a year before going to work for the civil service at Ft. Lewis. There she met and married Lt. Robert E. Scofield in 1955. Her husband’s military career took them to posts in Germany, Panama and several states in the US. Upon Robert’s retirement from the military, they returned to Tacoma where Ada worked for the Pierce County Medical Society and Chambers Creek Veterinary Hospital. Ada attended St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Lakewood, Washington and she was a member of the PEO organization. Ada was an avid walker and explored the sidewalks of Gig Harbor. There she would strike up conversations with people she met. She is survived by three children, two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A memorial will be held at a future date in New York at the Military Academy at West Point where she will be inurned with her husband Robert, who passed away in 2007.
