A W Davis' Obituary
A Life Remembered
AW Davis was born in Macon Georgia to the late Lonnie and Gussie Davis. After graduating from high school, AW joined the Army as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne.
During his time in the army he married and had 6 children. AW and his family traveled all over the country and Germany. He also fought in the Vietnam War where he received the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Medal.
He retired in 1974 after 20 years of service as an E-7.
AW always talked about hanging out on the street corner with James Brown and Little Richard listening to them sing and dance. He was known for remembering a good joke and retelling it to anyone that would listen. Sometimes you had no choice. He was a good hearted person, a great father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory; four daughters, Dianna Davis-King, Aletta Early (Phillip), Amelia Carlton (Donnie), and Sonjia Boafo; two sons, Maurice and Keith Davis; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, family and friends.
