John actually did have children that he abandoned, as well as a wife. I’ve heard horror stories from my mom and her siblings about him. How funny that he claims to not have children. Glad I never had to call him grandpa.

John was a resident at Brookdale and I had the pleasure of getting to know him quite well. I always enjoyed hearing John's stories of his military days and his career. He had an interesting life, and I could tell he was very well respected. I particularly liked the story of how he met his wife Patty, and the way he spoke about his love for her. He had many photos of his family throughout his apartment- he always spoke very highly of them. He was a wonderful man and he will be missed very much at Brookdale by not only his friends but all of us who work here. RIP, John.
