What a wonderful celebration of Bob's life at today's Memorial Service! I'm thankful for all the wonderful memories. I just hope that I touch at least 10% of the number of lives that Bob touched throughout his life before God calls me home.
Our family's thoughts and prayers are with all of you.##imported-begin##Betty Knauf##imported-end##
Dearest friends, All of the Van M family have been so important to Don's and my life for nearly 50 years. Bob was my "big brother" and led us so ably through problems in our religious growth. He will be sorely missed by all. My love to each of you. -Jan##imported-begin##Jan Stacy##imported-end##
We moved to Tacoma in 1985 and Bob helped us with the move. We mentioned that we were going to hire a piano mover to get our upright piano into the house. No, Bob said he could do it and he did! He helped us and the church and denomination in many more ways. Sending our prayers and love, Martha and Ed Keener##imported-begin##Ed and Martha Keener##imported-end##
Dear Edna,
Bob was a wonderful friend to my mother's family (Eleanor & Ida May & Ruby Dee Hoss)for so many years, and also to my dad, Roy Stephens. We were so sad to learn of his passing. Bethany truly was home, and Bob was such a big part of that. You are certainly in our prayers, and Dad & I will be there tomorrow.
Sincerely, Wendy & Roy##imported-begin##Wendy Stephens Firth##imported-end##
Dear Edna and family,
Bob will be in our thoughts and prayers for a very long time. You have been great neighbors from the very first day you welcomed us in your home and to Skyline Drive. Be joyful that Bob is now in the presence of our loving God. He was truly a good man and a faithful servant of the Lord. God's Peace to you all.##imported-begin##Dick and Barbara Powers##imported-end##
Dear Edna, Jerry, Betty Lou, Kathy, and family,
Bob was always available to lend a hand whenever needed. I fondly remember the fun times we had at the VanMarter home when we had Westminster Fellowship meetings there.
Although I haven't seen any of you in a number of years, I often think of all of you with fondness.
Bob will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers for God's comfort are with you.
Unfortunately, due to work commitments, we won't be able to attend the service, but will hold you in our thoughts.##imported-begin##Alan and Marjorie (Knauf) Vaughan##imported-end##
Edna,
I am so sorry to hear that Bob passed away. I will never forget all of his memorable stories and how much he taught me, more by example, than anything he ever said.
Although I feel that earth is now a lesser place with his passing, I feel that heaven is a better place now that he has gone home. I hesitate to "be sad" because I feel he is glad to be with God now even though that meant leaving his loved ones here on earth. I pray that you are doing o.k. and my thoughts are with you and your family.

Bob was a friend and will be missed. Olympia Presbytery and Bob Van Marter were synonomous. Growing up in this presbytery there has not been a time when I can remember not seeing Bob's friendly and reassuring face. Rest in God.##imported-begin##Michael Pyburn##imported-end##
Dear Ms.Edna,Jerry,Lindy,& Carolyn,
Never have I seen anybody ready to meet his maker more than Bob. His positive attitude about life, death, and new life has been such an annointing to me. He was like a father to me in so many ways! I had great respect, love, and fond memories of him when he was remodeling and wiring the school! Without him, we'd never made the time crunch! Also, thanks for the many dinners we've shared! The food and catching up on old times were always memorable events.
He'll be missed!
Love and Blessings to you all!
