Vivian Fulwider
November 21, 1924 - February 6, 2022
Vivian Inez Fulwider was born in Madison, South Dakota on November 21, 1924, and died in Puyallup, Washington on February 6,2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was the last surviving member of her family of seven siblings and her husband’s family of twelve siblings. Mom enrolled in the Nurse Cadet program in Mitchell, South Dakota following graduation from high school. The war ended before she finished. She married George Fulwider and worked in the local hospital in Madison. She and dad moved to Tacoma in 1955 with their four children. She worked at St. Joseph’s hospital on the medical floor and started their first burn unit. She was hired to work at the Tacoma/Pierce County Blood Bank where she received retirement for the first time in her career. Mom loved our beach property, the many places she and dad travelled, their home in Arizona, condo and friends at Classic Gardens and entertaining friends and family. She was very strong willed, independent and had a great love of her faith. She said her rosary daily, always including everyone! She is survived by her children: Greg (Cindy), Sandy, Jerry (Theresa) and Sue (Doug); 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. We wish to thank the Staff at Better Place #3 Aging Facility for the excellent care given to mom while living there, to Hospice of Tacoma: especially Rhiannon Benson, R.N.; and to Father Matthew O’Leary for his continued support and service or our parents. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Disciples Catholic Church on March 17. Viewing is at 9:00, rosary at 9:30, Mass at 10:00, with internment at Mt. View Cemetery at 1:00.
