The Life and Legacy Sandra Lee Harris, 83 was born to the Late Dock and Nancy Lee Knight in Elmore County, Alabama. Sandra accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age at St. James Baptist Church in Alabama. She loved the Lord and faithfully served in ministry wherever her travels took her. She enjoyed choir, taught Sunday school, Protestant Women of the Chapel, and served wherever she was needed. At the time of her transition she was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Tacoma, WA. She went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 14th, 2021, at Madigan Army Medical Center, Joint Base Lewis McChord, WA. She was married to 1SG (Retired) Saul Harris who preceded her in death in 1990. Sandra was a devoted and loving military wife, mother, and homemaker. She wore many hats beyond her family responsibilities, and she wore them well. Sandra was an excellent cook, and many people had the pleasure of her wonderful home cooked meals and southern hospitality. Over the years she worked in the Army mess hall at Fort Riley, KS, the Post Exchange at Fort Wainwright, AK, Fort Lewis, WA, and the laundry facility on Fort Lewis. She enjoyed many years as a Princess House Consultant. Sandra enjoyed traveling, with the highlight of her travels being her trip to Israel in 1993. She is survived by her 8 Children, Priscilla A Leytus (Steven) of Redmond, Loretta Diallo of Tacoma, Richard Harris of Tacoma, Dorothy Terrell (Michael Sr.) of Virginia, Yvonne Harris Bates of Alabama, Calvin Harris Sr. of Texas, Sharon Smith of Texas and Isaiah Harris of Tacoma. She had the joy of 25 Grandchildren. Sidi Harris, who she lovingly raised along with her other children and he affectionately referred to her as “mama’’, Zachary Leytus, Jaclyn Leytus, Nykole Harris, Alexis Harris, Maylonnai Harris, Perry Harris, Jordan Harris, Michael Terrell Jr., Gabriel Terrell, Rebecca Terrell, Chiquita Anderson, Calvin Harris Jr., Joshua Harris, Olivia Langley, Joelle Harris, Jordan Smith, Jacob Smith, Jaina Harris, Lauren Harris, Nathan Hull, Bekah Sims, Aalia Harris, Lavonna Broady, Veronica Broady and 35 Great Grandchildren. Surviving relatives include siblings James Knight (Dorothy) of Alabama, Gladys Knight of Florida, Julius Earl Knight of Alabama, her Brother in-law Beado Harris (Anna Belle) of Illinois, her lifelong friend and cousin, Alviona Knight Freeman of Alabama, cousins Yvonne Bass, and Molly B. as well as a host of extended family and friends. Sandra will be missed by her family and friends, yet we are most thankful for the many years the Lord allowed us to be blessed by her selfless love and devotion to each and every one of us. Services will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW, Lakewood, WA 98499, on Tuesday January 4th, 2022, at 12 pm in the “Celebration of Life Center.” Graveside Service to follow.
