January 21, 1930 - August 18, 2021
With profound sadness we announce the passing of Phyllis Lorraine Moore. Phyllis, a loving and devoted mother and friend to all whose lives she touched, passed away on August 18, 2021. In her 91st year, she died peacefully with family at her side. Born in Tacoma, to Richard and Marion Mojean, Phyllis witnessed incredible changes to her world – she lived in and traveled to many places, but in the end came home to Washington. She was a proud graduate of Lincoln’s class of 1948! An excellent student, she also belonged to the drill team, worked on the school newspaper, and was an elected student council member. After high school she went on to attend Central College in Eastern WA. In 1957, she married Ronald Moore, a senior NCOstationed at McChord where she was employed by the 25thAir Division as the secretary to the Director of Operations (and would fill in for the general’s secretaryon occasion). They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this last November 2020. She was the beloved wife of Ron and mother of Linda (Terry), Karen, and Marianne (Louie); proud grandmother of Lenny (Ann), Kara (Joe), Kane (Minni), Rachel (Todd), Nick (Nicole), and Alex (Andrea); and many great and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Muriel Burnett; her brother, Richard Mojean, and parents pre-deceased her. Phyllis lived a full life as a wonderful mother, world traveler, and career woman. She retired from Tacoma School District as an HR manager in the early 90’s, after a long and successful career in public education. She kept an immaculate house, was an excellent cook, and loved her cats. She loved to sew and was an amazing and highly skilled seamstress. Most of all, she loved her family. She inspired those closest to her to live a life of value and integrity. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. A graveside service will be held on August 28th for immediate family with a memorial service to be held at a future date.
