Josephine Muth
December 30, 1932 - December 26, 2021
Josephine Muth passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of December 26th, 2021. Her final hours were spent surrounded by family and celebrating the joys of Christmas. After twice beating cancer in the past, Josie succumbed after a yearlong battle with the disease just four days prior to her 89th birthday. She is now happily reunited with her beloved husband, Robert. Josie was born to Nicholaus and Frances Leingang in St Anthony, ND on December 30th, 1932, the fourth of nine children. She moved with her family to Tacoma, WA when she was 17 years old. Four years later, she married the love of her life, Robert Muth in 1953 and settled in Lakewood where they raised two beautiful daughters, Vickie and Cindy. Josie and Robert shared a very loving and affectionate marriage. They were often seen holding hands through the decades. They enjoyed having fun together and with others whether it be around the card table or dancing the night away in their younger years. Also, they very much enjoyed traveling to different parts of the world together and spent later years snow-birding in Arizona and camping in their RV at their ocean property. Josie loved working in her flower gardens so much that Robert used to refer to her as, “a slug,” because she’d spend hours weeding on her hands and knees. She took great pride in the results of her hard work as their flower beds were stunning. She is now tending to the gardens in Heaven. Along with Robert, the true light of her life has been her offspring. Since Vickie, Cindy, Selina, Lochlan and Maddie were born, her happiest days were spent with them. Josie had a cheery outlook on life and enjoyed visiting with anyone from lifelong friends to a stranger next to her in the checkout line. She is survived by her two daughters, Vickie Mack (Steve) and Cindy Reichman; granddaughter Selina Rupers (Ben); great grandchildren Lochlan and Maddie; sisters Annie Getz and Lucille Burk; brother Marlin Leingang (Janelle); brothers-in-law Tom Fry and Joe Schaff (Ruby), as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her sisters Linda, Catherine, and Clementine, and brothers Frank and Lester. We all treasured the precious time we had with this wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, Omi, sister, aunt and friend. There will be a viewing on January 11th at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood at 3:30 pm. Josie will be buried at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent next to Robert on January 12th.
