Donald Ogden Emmerson
May 23, 1952 - May 15, 2022
Donald Ogden Emmerson, 69, passed away unexpectedly on May 15, 2022, in Puyallup, Washington. He was born at Tacoma General Hospital on May 23, 1952. He attended Clover Park, Central High School, and Evergreen State College. During high school he was the captain of the chess team. Foosball was a much beloved hobby of Donald’s. Foosball has a unique reputation and many consider it to be simply a tabletop game that can be played by anyone and is simple enough to not qualify as a sport, but Donald was way more committed to the thrill of winning when he played. This required him to spend many hours strengthening his strategies to play in complex tournaments and casual matches with friends. Donald played for the Professional Putt-Putt Golfers/Putters Association. He participated in the National Championship Tournament. This was one of his major highlights in life. Traveling to these big tournaments, for the challenge, the competition, the camaraderie that was only among the best of the best is what Donald found to be the hole-in-one for him. Donald spent over twenty years employed with the United States Postal Service. He worked at the mail sorting center in Tacoma. He is survived by his older brother, John Samuel Emmerson. He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Emmerson and Mary Martha Ogden Emmerson. Donald will be missed and is loved by family and friends. A graveside memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2022, starting at 1:30pm, at Mountain View Cemetery, Fir Section, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW, Lakewood WA 98499.
