David Charles Harris
May 13, 1944 - March 25, 2022
David Charles Harris, 77, passed away peacefully in his home on March 25, 2022. Dave was born in San Francisco on May 13, 1944, the middle child in a family of 7. Although his family was separated at an early age, Dave loved and missed all his siblings – Witten, Linda, Ian, and Melissa - and stayed connected with each of them throughout his life. Dave had a long career in the US Air Force retiring as a Master Sergeant after 26 years of service with many honorable awards and medals. He continued to be a lifelong patriot, devoting many years to community and veteran organizations, leading as the State Commander of Washington AMVETS and Public Relations Officer of the Washington AMVETS. Dave had an enduring love of learning and received his Masters degree in Cultural Anthropology. He continued his education and training in many other different interests and forms - from learning to speak and write Japanese, earning the achievement of Sharpshooter in small arms marksmanship, becoming a certified SCUBA diver, and even reaching the level of First Disciple of Tai Chi. He loved dancing and singing karaoke and anything else related to music. David also loved adventure in all forms whether it was experimenting with new foods, meeting new people, traveling to new places, or going to the extreme by bungee jumping and sky diving. David leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 52 years Mieko, daughter Julie (husband David Keyser), son David (wife Christa), daughter Melissa (husband David Shaffer) and daughter Linda. He was also a grandfather to 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is now happily resting and at peace, reunited with his beloved sister Linda and his grand-daughter Jessica.
