Barbara Mae Stecker
November 25, 1929 - June 22, 2022
Barbara Mae Mesaros was born to her parents Elizabeth Tobel Mesaros and Steve Mesaros on November 25, 1929 at Deaconess Hospital in Great Falls, Montana. She spent her early childhood in Great Falls where she attended elementary school. She had fond memories of spending time there with her grandparents Julius and Barbara Tobel and grandmother Mary Mesaros as well as extended family in Montana. When her mother and father divorced, Barbara and her mother relocated to Tacoma, Washington where she attended Ruston School, Mason Junior High, and graduated from stadium High School in 1947. Barbara worked most of her adult life. She was a retire Technician/Administrative assistant to cardiologists MD’s at Allenmore Medical Center in Tacoma and a few years later went to work for and retired from the Tacoma School District Food service Department. When not working, Barbara, enjoyed ceramic making, dried floral arranging, attending horse racing at Longacres, going to a casino occasionally, turkey dinners, Seahawks, and spending time with her mother and her children. Barbara passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 22, 2022, in Tacoma. Barbara was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather Elizabeth C. and Orvald S. Backe, brother Earl E. Mesaros and his wife Antioinette of Nevada, her husband William F. “Bud” Stecker, son James M. Murphy, grandson Kyler G. Stecker, stepfather Rudy Vasicek, and best friend Dottie Tomanelli. She leaves behind sons David B. Murphy and Gregory E. Stecker, daughter Gayle M. Littler and Teresa “Terri” J. Young, grandchildren Chad Littler, Michael J. Murphy, Jeffrey D. Young, James M. Young, and Austin M. Voelker, three great grandchildren, two nephews and special family friend Terry Woodcook. She was also married to, divorce from, and preceded in death by husbands, James I. Murphy and Thomas F. Sinciro.
