Steve was a co-worker; but more important I considered him a good friend. We knew each other for almost 25 years. Because we met when he was working on a project at Salmon Beach, and I lived at Salmon Beach, he called me "The Rebel" to this day. The last 5 years or so we worked Leadership Team together. We could passionately (and Steve was passionate about his work) disagree on something but then go out to sushi and clear the air. We went to Sushi almost weekly. The "J" Roll at Fujiya was one of his favorites. If we had a site visit, we always scheduled around lunch so we could try a different sushi restaurant. The Mandolin Japanese Steak House (always ordered sushi, of course) was another of his favorites. Steve always had my back. I programmed his number in my phone as "bat phone" because I always called him when I needed help on something. We could talk through any problem...be it about the office or about the best way to help a customer. He was passionate about his work, staff, family, and friends. He will be sorely missed.
Steve was the best friend anyone could have ever hoped for. He was very kind hearted and cared about everyone. He could always find something good even out of less than great situations. He had a way of seeing different perspectives that other people didn't think about. We had so many great laughs and conversations over the years and our bike riding adventures were so fun, always finding new trails, getting lost and finding our way back.. these are just a few of the things I will miss about Steve but are also great memories I will cherish. I am sending healing thoughts to family and hope you are able to find some comfort knowing how loved they were by so many.
