Richard and Sue and my husband Gary and I all grew up together, all being about the same age in our early 20s when we first met. We had our children, they all grew up, we all had different jobs and careers which led us in different directions, but the caring and good thought have always been there.
Richard was always willing to offer an helping hand, whenever needed and I will always be grateful to how supportive he was of my three children through their careers- always encouraging and proud of their accomplishments. Richard, was a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and he was also a caring friend to all that met him.
The celebrations of Rick’s life are many and he meant so much to all that knew him..
We celebrate his many talents; artistic, creative, but more than that he was such a wonderful listener and friend. . He had that natural way of just coming along side you without judgment and letting you know that he cared.
A quiet, sensitive man, finding the love of his life with his wife of 45 years, Suzanne, to build a wonderful family, his son Ricky, his daughter, Valerie, his grandson Drew, his daughter in law Christy and his son in law Troy. How proud he was of each of them...Richard achieved many accomplishments; as a seasoned bricklayer, working with his hands, which he loved to do. Richard was always building, or creating, continuing into his retirement, and I always enjoyed it when he proudly, yet humbly, shared his newest creations throughout his amazing yard. Some of my finest memories are just walking through the local Goodwill together, knowing that some unknown treasure was waiting to be transformed into something magical. Richard so enjoyed the outdoors and shared many moments with his loved ones...whether it was packing up the family in a RV heading for the adventures of Alaska or spending a quiet day fishing on American Lake- Even though Richard loved to learn new things, he always came back again and again to the things that he valued most, his family, his friends, and his home. He was just such a solid guy, unassuming, nonjudgmental, the salt of the earth.
Let us all hope that through this we will better learn to cherish every day that God has given us ……..God bless you all that are grieving through this tremendous loss- Rest in peace Richard, May you SOAR with the Eagles.
They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, ... Isaiah 40:31 -With Love, Gary & Virginia Wurts
