You may be gone but you will never be forgotten. I really miss our phone calls and visits especially when l hear certain songs that you use to sing. I found some cassettes that you did with Cole and others and plan on copying them to cd's. I sent one to your boy and he was really happy and l also shared some pictures l had of you as he said he didn't really have many of you. Hope your behaving winkled one, lol.
Johnnie was a first cousin to my father Merle Jones . I always enjoyed our visits to Eatonville listening to my father and Johnnie tell stories of their childhood together. One memory of Johnnie that always makes me laugh was a visit to Eatonville when I was 16. I was talking about getting my drivers license and he spoke up and said...if you need to learn to drive I can teach you. We all laughed and he said really I am a good driver. What a sense of humor he had. He would send letters to my father and they were always heart-felt. May he rest in peace.
My favorite memory of Johnnie is when he and his dad threw me a surprise birthday party when I turned 21. His dad had a big sheet cake made just so they could put 21 candles on it. I remember taking him to wrestling matches and watching him get so excited. The best memory though is when I got him up to sing karaoke at Skeeters. He got a standing ovation that night. He was a great drummer and singer and played with country singers such as Grover Jackson, Cole Shelton and Roy Clark. I will miss our phone calls and hearing him call me brat wah ( he was the wrinkled one).He also got a kick out of asking my hubby Jerry if he could drive our car every time we went to see him. He was my best friend. We lost a great guy and God gained another angel for his band. He is with his dad, mom and many friends.
