I did my student teaching with Darlene at Tyee Park Elementary school in 1972. I was so blessed to have been assigned to Darlene's 1st grade classroom. I was greeted with warmth and made to feel welcome from my first day in her classroom. She was a wonderful teacher and I based my teaching on what I learned during my student teaching with Darlene. She had a wonderful sense of humor with students and adults alike. As all educators know, your supervising teacher is extremely important and I had the best in every way possible. I learned so much from Darlene and I feel honored to have known her.
Darlene was a wonderful person who touched more lives than we will ever know. My condolences to her loved ones.
