Dad was an incredible man. He was always friendly to everyone he met. He gave his children and grand children security, love, support, encouragement and many times came through like a super hero when it was least expected. When my daughter was just 3 years old, I bought a small house for the two of us in Sumner. Dad, who was my super hero and being the compassionate man that he was, began building a garage that attached to the house. In no time at all, the garage was completed with an automatic garage door and everything!
Before retiring, he was an engineer working on boilers at the St. Regis Paper Company (later becoming Simpson). He was a do-it-yourself guy who knew how to make his own air compressor from scraps that he would find laying around. He could repair anything and make it work again. He also made beautiful knives with deer horn handles, rings from metal nuts and worked on his scroll saw making wooden ornaments and decor. Dad was a very practical person with a great sense of humor and would pride himself in making us all laugh.
He was brought up during the depression and was a Veteran of WWII in the Timberwolf's 104th Infantry Div. Dad was born 10/26/20. He was just a few days short of his 93rd birthday.
My Dad married my Mom, Edna, when she was just 18 years old. The two of them bought a piece of property that had a old berry pickers' shack on it and called that home. Dad worked hard to create the home they lived in for the past 67 years.
